NABRC RD&A Priorities

The North Australia Beef Research Council (NABRC) facilitates one of the northern beef industry’s most important producer-led consultation processes.

Each year, NABRC and its network of Regional Beef Research Committees (RBRCs) identify, discuss and rank the key research, development and adoption (RD&A) issues affecting northern Australia’s grassfed beef industry.

These priorities help guide investment and planning across the sector and ensure RD&A activities remain connected to the practical needs of producers and beef industry participants across northern Australia.

How the priorities are developed

The Producer-Identified RD&A Priorities are developed through ongoing consultation and discussion at RBRC meetings held across northern Australia.

RBRCs are expected to meet at least twice each year to align with NABRC’s annual meeting cycle and MLA’s investment planning processes.

During meetings, committees discuss:

  • regional production and sustainability issues

  • emerging industry challenges

  • adoption and extension gaps

  • current and proposed research projects

  • opportunities for innovation and collaboration

  • practical barriers to implementation on-farm.

The process is designed to ensure priorities are:

  • producer-led

  • regionally informed

  • commercially relevant

  • practical and outcome-focused

  • reflective of both current and emerging industry needs.

NABRC consolidates input from all 11 RBRCs to develop a northern Australia-wide view of the industry’s key RD&A priorities.
