NABRC Medals

Recognising Excellence Across Northern Australia

The North Australia Beef Research Council (NABRC) Medals celebrate individuals who have made a significant contribution to the northern Australian beef industry through production, research, development, communication and leadership.

 

The awards recognise excellence across Queensland, the Northern Territory, and the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Western Australia. Medals are awarded every three years and honour those whose work has delivered meaningful impact to the industry.

About the NABRC Medals

The NABRC Medals recognise outstanding individuals whose work has strengthened the northern beef industry through:

  • Research and development

  • Innovation and leadership

  • Extension and communication

  • Producer adoption and implementation

  • Mentoring and industry contribution

The medals highlight the importance of industry-led innovation and celebrate the people driving practical outcomes across northern Australia

Medal categories

  • Producer Medal Recognises producers demonstrating leadership and measurable impact through RD&A participation and implementation.

  • Scientist / Researcher Medal Recognises researchers delivering significant, applied outcomes for the northern beef industry.

  • Communicator / Extension Medal Recognises professionals driving adoption of research through innovative communication and extension.

  • Young Achiever Medal Recognises individuals under 35 demonstrating achievement and leadership potential.

  • Lifetime Achievement Medal Recognises individuals with 20+ years of sustained contribution, leadership and mentorship to the northern beef industry.

Eligibility

To be eligible for nomination:

  • Individuals must be nominated

  • Nominees must have demonstrated measurable impact on the northern Australian beef industry

  • Nominees must have resided in, or spent significant time in, northern Australia while achieving this impact

SELECTION CRITERIA

Across all medal categories, nominees should:

  • Have excelled in their field

  • Have made a demonstrable impact on the northern Australian beef industry

Depending on the category, nominees may also demonstrate:

  • Commitment to research and development

  • Innovation and leadership

  • Measurable industry outcomes

  • Driving adoption of research findings

  • Supporting and mentoring peers
